The Raven’s Whisper

I felt the lilies sway
In life filled meadows near
I heard the raven calling
It whispered in my ear

I never meant to see you
To feel this last disgrace
But I couldn’t go with out you
To see, but last, your face

The tears that ran my eyes
Into a blurry blind
Couldn’t see the raven
That carved away my mind

So if this lasts forever
His graveness more complete
I shall never see you
He withered in defeat

I couldn’t help but pull him
Into my arms, my chest
And hold him tightly there
Let him have a nest

The raven wept but thrice
And flew into the air
My prince returned from errands
That lavished me with care

I couldn’t help but ponder
As my prince held me close
As to what the raven
Truly wanted most . . .
