the last place on earth

I don't know if this counts as a poem or not nut it's a true story believe it or not
I walked out of the court house today
full of anger and hate
just having watched a trile
of the man that killed my friends
the only thought in my mind
was thoughts of revenge

I was going home to get my rifle
to end his life like the seven he killed
but walking to the bus stop
cursing and swearing all the way
I met a man on the street
a man carrying a bible
to me he began to speak

he tried to tell me of the good book
and of the lord above
I'm not really religious
and still not entirely convinced
I didn't want to listen
to the words he preached

I tried to walk away
but he stopped once again
asked me why I was angry
why I was full of hate
I told him of my story
and how my mates had died
then I decided to humor him
and ask a question on my mined

If god is all knowing, all powerful, all mighty
if he loves all as you say he does
and has the power to create
why didn't he save my friends that night
why didn't he save my dad
and if he is all powerful
why can't he save me

he looked at me for a while
with fear in his eyes
fear of what I had told him
and what I planed to do
then after a while
he began to speak

a line I've heard many times before
the lord works in mysterious ways
and he will forgive you for your sins
I can't tell you why he took your friends
or even his great plan
but he really does love you
and he shares in your pain

he would like you to forgive this man
as he will forgive for your sins
as i walked away again he called out one more thing
I don't expect you to forgive that man
but hating him is only hurting you

this last thing he said really made me think
nothing will get them back
think and think and think

instead of hating there demise
I need to carry on
I know it's what they'd want
everything I said I'd one day do

walking home from the bus stop
it kept spinning in my head

I walked thought the door
and up the stairs
to where my gun is kept
I opened the cupboard
and took up paper and pen instead

because I realized
the words the preacher spoke where true
I sat down at the table
to write that man a letter
it took three hours to write down what i wanted
as the pen shock in my hand

I've realized now it's up to me
to live the life they wanted
I wont be angry
I'll be happy
and live life to it's full

no more dwelling no more tears
I've set my despair free
on that page covered in sweat and tears
a letter I wrote to a murderer
had words numbering only three

I forgive you

Once again he plunges the sword of wisdom and amazement into my mind, he is absolutely one of a kind!
This was very good I imagined the story in my head and I could actually see the hurt on the guys face from loosing his friends...wisdom of the sword.. reading your stuff I will never be bored.
