Here it is, the final instalment in the three part series. The first two poems, 'Foolish Man' and 'Plotting Revenge' are in here somewhere... I challenge you to answer The question on the stage To her you were the novel of life To you she was but a page Her breath sticks in her throat Pretending the truth isn’t real For now we all see the snake And betrayal is all she can feel The words slip out of my mouth again You growl, knowing I have won For my proof is undeniable Your lies begin to come undone Looking away you answer yes And finally her tears fall You try in vain to comfort her When you had caused it all She screams at you to leave her house Never again will she see your face Bow your head and look away Filled with shame and disgrace The glance I get as you leave us Is filled with hatred, so vile I merely curtsy in victory And give you a prideful smile When her tears finally stop she glances back At the picture that saved her life Such a happy family You, your son, and your wife |
