The unkindness of ravens is the essence of truth
It lingers upon the air tonight and its ready to raise the roof
Distant dreams are now closer as your memory fades away
Gone but not forgotten your presence will stay

I’ll reach for your hand just to keep you afloat
But then again you weren’t there to be my rescue boat
Your hand holds on tight as the sea pulls you under
But your silent screams can’t be heard through the thunder

They say every man has a day when the world brings him down
Today is the day when you can’t make a sound
Your dreams are just memories, your future erased
Your life now darkened, your fears now faced

So this is really life, and it can be so unfair
Don’t tell me it sucks, because I’m already there
I know how much it hurts, I’ve felt it before
You put me there remember, you opened that door

So go on wait a second, please don’t lose your grip
Don’t let go of reality, or before you know it you will slip
This road of life isn’t easy; it’s not made to be fair
It’s your own fault you’re slipping, so stop crying in despair

There’s a tide in the affairs of men
That lingers as a new day begins
An unkindness of ravens can be smelt in the air
Because life was never made to be fair
