Forever's a very long time...

you say things and I think-
I know-
that you want more from me
than I'm willing to give
right now.
You want me with you
for the rest of your lives
you start sentences with "when"...
and end them with words
that belong years away-
farther in my future
than I've bothered to plan.
But you seem to take it for granted
that I'll be there for you
forever
And I love you-I do!-
but-
you say things
and they scare me,
because I haven't even decided
what I want to be when I grow up.
I'm still just in high school-
I can't think about~
what you've been talking about~
yet.
And you don't realize it...
but I might not be here forever.
Forever's a very long time.
