I got my inspiration for this piece from this walk I took the other day. So I have this killer road by my house that I have to walk up coming back from the main road in town, and I decide that I'll just take a side road. So I'm taking this road and I see a graveyard and walk by, but then there is one that has a little opening and in back of it is a church that I've seen before, and something prompts me to go in and look at the gravestones, it was sunny and beautiful- unusual for Feb. and so peaceful. So I thought "I can't waste all this beauty, I have to share" and as you all know my stories tend to mold themselves around my inner thoughts, so here is my creation- enjoy!!! -Kate Standing in a Graveyard Standing in a graveyard You can not help but whisper The respect the dead demand Comes through your calm demeanor So have you a loved one Lost in a sea of graves Or have you yet to answer To the call of death and pains Walking in the sunshine The place seems filled with calm And teetered on the edge We’re waiting for the storm In a life where lies can substitute For truth’s demeaning calm It’s no wonder we exaggerate The way emotions are worn When we deny the beggar And strip the naked poor We decay our higher purpose For something less- not more It is in such a place That the dead have the most peace Where no one has to worry And no one dead can speak . . . and in the daylight i miss the nightmare- but deathly fear it in the dark of night |

Your words make a graveyard a little bit more pleasent. *weird though isnt it?* The emotion is very beautiful. i love it!! this is heading to my library. lol. And i know how you feel when it comes to writers block. One way to cure it look at a picture and write about it. Its been helping me the past week or so. (if you havent noticed all the poems i have, that have pictures with them too) ~Zach~ |
