Alright, for those of you who have also been tortured with The Great Gatsby I took my title from one of the things Daisy says about her daughter "I hope she grows up to be a pretty little fool. That's about the best a girl can hope for these days, to be a pretty little fool." I hated the book- none of the characters were redeeming or selfless- they were all self abosorbed horrid creatures- not even Nick was free of horrid sins.I hated that- but dang that Fitzgerald- he had some good lines in him. Sorry for the long intro- but if you understand what Daisy was saying then you will understand more of the meanings of this poem so here is my Pretty Little Fool. -Kate Pretty Little Fool I’m feeling slightly guilty, But even I’m to proud to say That I was wrong and you were right (It’s been that kind of day) I thought that I could fool the world But the world’s men are quite too wise To fall for my pathetic tricks Or my radical devious lies So you’re stuck inside with a young girl A movie and a half of a tie I wish that I could warn you before It becomes too late to get by Dear mind I’m just a message From the bottom of your heart I’m trying to get your warning up And shoot it on my mark But dear you make it difficult To place my arrow fine I’m getting kinda antsy ‘Cause we’re running out of time I’m still feeling so guilty Engulfed in its strong grasp Just wait until your sitting Where your heart too is clasped and in the daylight i miss the nightmare- but deathly fear it in the dark of night |
