Without you, I am a mote in the heavens, Anchorless and boundless in my flight Ambition reaching past the spiral drain of stars Without you, I am as bright and long as the comet’s tail My bursting heart a saffron streak Free to trace out twilight amidst the clouds Without you, I am as light upon the lake Dancing, shimmering, shapeless Unconfined—quicksilver as the fish below Without you, I am a dream, a wish, a promise thrown to flight Undefined, unrestrained, unchecked A shout! to shatter sand and sea Without you, I’ve run to the ends of the earth And drunk deep from hyacinth seas I’ve stood on the edges of me and found-- Without you, A voice at night, a still light I am utterly, unflinchingly, undeniably, lost |
