This is Simply Life

So when will the fighting stop
These whips of bone made up of words
We are hurting one another
And our stories beg to be heard

I don’t feel anything now
Not the wind or the light or the sound
My heartbeat is steady and stable
My mind is as blank as the ground

My strips haven’t healed yet
And my wounds are opening wide
You were the sun and the stars in my life
The last thing I held to with pride

I’m tired of saying “I’m sorry”
Though I’ll have to say many times more
I’m tired of stretching reality
It time we were closing this door

Life is so twisted
With all its plans gone awry
It gives out funny answers
But seldom answers why

"I have no other but a woman's reason:
I think him so, because I think him so."
