Yes, You Always Could Dress Insults So Lovely |

Shooting down the stars, aiming for a pitch black setting, no light to shine down on your master plan to put me in my place. on that scaffold awaiting my beheading for the contemplative things I've done and the useless trials I've run. You dress me in the finest linens, paint my face with painless smiles, showing others how courageous... a sinner really is. You hold me at this window, forcing me to view the world at its best (which on the contrary, is its worst.) you lead me to a shattered image (not the first time nor the last) that is only of myself reflecting all my flaws... and chain my down my actions in the corner of my mind. Staring at a fragile art, I can always seem to find.. the scars upon my face and now I know the reasons (for the fractured illustration staring back at me) How tactile I could be if my hands were not tied behind my back. You tear down every part of me, but my pains I never lack. This punishment you bestow upon me, this trivial pursuit, is lighting my path to a better self-indulgent you (to a better self-indulgent me?) And I've allowed your domination to reveal my inner weakness but only to you, yes only to you. To convict my heart with secrets and whisper lies into my core, to think I had a chance at triumph, my success story is no more. Self-pity is a such a shame, and you refuse to sink that low... you just hold my thoughts at ransom... tantalizing my every hope at redemption. Encumbering my heart and weighing down my mind, take a look at YOU, how could you be so kind? (How could I be so blind?) I take the words you grant me, for only by your permission can I neglect to perform your obligations (I guess they've always been mine as well) Living with me everyday has made a mockery of my thoughts, but without you... WITHOUT YOU, I'd be aimless, I'd have nothing to cover up my tears, or persuade my troubled thoughts to speak to no one. Too bad the world captures only MY counter-fit smiles in the pictures they take and none of the self-destruction that you create. (Love and Hate are equivalent to them.) I've been told I have the most flattering smile and my semi-righteousness is prevailing above thee. (but yes, I always could dress insults so lovely) |

well, yes. Great titles can really make it or break it for me. i love a good title. i'm always dissappointed though, when i find a good title with a bad poem/story/book, luckily, this was no such case. thy words were lovely dear. -Kate "I thought I'd just mention in passing . . . thank you both very much. I wasn't sure if I would get much feedback in the teen section of this site for this poem is more "dark" or "deeper" than what I usually post here. I tried to capture the effect of talking to myself, hoping the reader would realize that I was in the end really having contemplative thoughts about my own self-pity and pain depicted upon myself. so, of course any feedback is welcome. -heather |

You hold me at this window, forcing me to view the world at its best (which on the contrary, is its worst.) These were my favourite lines of all and actually the stanza right after it as well it was just wonderful and quite interesting |
