Victorian Secret Love Their love was strictly forbidden Secret meetings in the dark A stolen kiss in the moonlight An embrace in the park, Notes passed to say; "I love you" He winks to acknowledge the signs She smiles ever so sweetly One day he will be mine, War is all apparent He marches off to fight She sees him off at the station He disappears into the night, Every night she sits and waits Her heart aches for the love of her life Her hope and desire that one day He will come to make her his wife, Important news from the front Her lover has fallen, "slain" Her heart withers and dies with her lover Never to love again, Annie 12-6-1988 |

What was true for this beautifully rendered "Victorian Secret Love", is still a reality today, for secret or officially known couples: the war is still a most cruel reaper! We need to trust in evolution! Love, Margherita |
