The Autumn Tree I hardly knew you in your golden brown coat You were so green the last time we met Now you are so different So bare of your green beauty, Your body was full and rounded So green and full of life it’s self Now all I see is decay and emptiness Bleak and disfigured in the autumn sun, I see your every fault I thought so perfect I see every line that you posses And yet; in my mind I remember how beautiful and perfect you once were, How beautiful you will be again Full of green summer life... I believe trees are always perfect, even in their bareness, and as you say they always hold the promise of summer beauty. Enjoyed your tree poem, dear Annie. Love, Margherita |
