It’s Not Just A JobMy heart is in it, too Each day I go to care for them The compassions grew Whatever the task may be I do it all out of love Each one touches the heart of me It seems I can never do enough To sit there watching them each day As they take their last breath Is often times too hard for me It’s like some kind of awful test But, one thing that I know for sure Where they go, when they leave here Is bound to be a better place At least, that is what I always hear 1-31-09 |

My dear Sweet Sue, I would want someone like you taking care of my loved ones! ~ and me if need be! Actually, what I would really prefer is to have YOU looking after those I love. It would give me great peace of mind for I'd know that they would be well-cared for! You are genuinely a very loving person and I am proud to call you my friend. ![]() With much love, Linda ![]() |

wow, I can't believe I found a site about poetry with this much activity... I should have found this website years ago... but heres my first reply... I really liked this poem, I take it that you're a nurse or a doctor... But I could only imagine what it would be like having to watch people die all of the time... You expressed yourself very nicely, great poem... |

Hi Oklahoma Rose - How lucky you are to have a job that has your heart! Your title caught my eye because my job is just a job and although I have the heart I do not have the skills for something more meaningful. It's so nice to know that there are people like you in the world. Yes, keep up the good work! Helen |

The work you do is emotionally charged, and often physically draining. I've only done hospice for three people, and each one was a unique human whose heart touched mine. You do a job that few can do, Sue. It is never financially compensated adequately for the true level of care you give another in their last moments. Thankfully, the true caregivers aren't in this profession for what a dollar can buy. What the heart gives and receives carries no price tag. |

A beautiful, heart rending write on a topic we tend to not want to think about while we are going about our daily lives. I could not do what you do, but I am grateful to know that there are those out there who can. You are an angel. May you have the strength physically, mentally and especially emotionally to continue blessing people with your kind and gentle heart....kat |
