Light

In depths of darkness
Beyond description
A flicker of light
Seems mere illusion,
Hallucination of
Redemption
When rescue is a hope
No longer remembered.

Did I not meticulously
Pave my own
Path to this place?
Am I not
Heaven's mistake
Given not to dreams
Of wings and gowns
But only frowns
Of displeasure,
The tinkertoy treasure
Of depravity defined?

The glimmer is not mirage
Neither is it hell's fingers
Reaching to claim
The tattered remains of me.
No candle or torch
Lantern or lamp
Steps forth to
Illumine the corners and
Shatter the shadows
Of my existence -

It is the glow of a heart,
The shine of eyes
Filled with love
Seeping tears of sadness
Such acceptance is alien,
Beyond my comprehension.
It is a gentle hand
Guiding me upwards
Into a life worth living
And a world where dreams
Are encouraged.

It is you. It is love.
And the universe explodes
In brilliant bursts and
Colorful cascades of pure
Unadulterated

Light

this needs a bump to the top.  So many excellent phrases and word choices here.  I love this:

"Hallucination of
Redemption
When rescue is a hope
No longer remembered."

...made me think...is hope really hope if it cannot be recalled?  Is redemption really redemption if it is hopeless...think I'll leave to ponder this more...nice write...

Many many wonderful descriptive lines in this piece.
Such a wonderful conclusion of released emotions.

Sparkle and shine takes on a whole new meaning when the heart is polished with love.   And there are just some eyes that teach the stars how to twinkle.  We should all have such a universe in which to live!  ~ Karen

when I was a kid I wanted to be a light
seemed it was always something people wanted
especially those that were afraid of the dark

but then I realized light always needs batteries or electricity or the sun...and dark only needs to just be dark..

besides, who would read poems by the light stranger..lol

loved your work here lady!!

Very very well done and soooo nice, It is you. It is love. the poem that is.

The ability to describe life with words is similar to painting a picture; both can be powerful tools.

I hold no gods but love, and love saves all.

Beautifully penned.

Yo dear Ruth,

Heaven never makes mistakes.  Where did you ever get the idea that Heaven could ever make a mistake.

Oh Dear Suthern, like dawn, how these words broke through the bleak of blistered shadows, only to envision, and escort one to the fairer side of blonde skies.

Thank you, for the hand torch of grasp and fathom. Your guiding glow emanates, through my skin of triumph.

Richy

God is Love and God is Light and, sometimes, God is seen in expressions of the deep and the magnificent as is the heart tone and beauty found here in your expression. God bless.
