Listening to every heart

To Not Compromise

To not compromise what my dream meant
and not to whisper of emotional desires
oh, this elusive search for one’s content

kindles and fuels these raging fires
for again and again these dreams seem bent
(and not to whisper of emotional desires)

damn, but my soul feels torn and rent
though I gather these shivering slices of soul
for again and again these dreams seem bent

to stream my consciousness to one place
where I might see your loving face
though I gather these shivering slices of soul

and try with difficulty not to feel old;
to not compromise what my dream meant
where I might see your loving face
oh, this elusive search for one’s content.

Lovely format, Karilea.  I have never, to the best of my recollections, met a terzanelle, but I enjoyed my encounter with yours.  Some time later, I will look up what its rules are - obviously stanzas of 3 lines, and a fascinating rhyme scheme, but I am not sure if there are variations on the rhyme scheme, and if there are other rules.  Delightful poem, too.  It had me very curious to unwrap the mysteries in it.  I enjoy your fascination with dreams.  It enhances my fascination with them.

Yo dear Sunshine,

With a little work, this could be turned into a proper Elizabethan sonnet.

It's okay as it is.

You managed to capture the "serenity" I feel when I glimpse The Other Side.

I'm so glad that it's translating for others, and that you so beautifully made this ...more.

(And waving at Owl! I didn't mean to neglect you on that other thread, either. When I was remembering that dream, I did indeed think, "I just HAVE to tell Diana about this'n!".)

way cool, you two.

I love this form, Sissie...it seems especially well-used within the diaphanous quality of dreams. The meaning within a dream seems to be so simple, while dreaming, but elusive indeed, awake.

Happy giggles, Karen!  Thank you for that.  I am glad that you saw it was just up my street!  Or rather just into my forestful of creatures - saw my genet friend coming down his/her tree a few nights ago - and my houseful of Tigger and Daisy - and my heartful of Flicka and other darlings who have gone to Heaven and are there with him.  And it wasn't just the andibles, although it was especially them.  Smiles.

Don't compromise! Don't compromise!

Keep the beauty of the dream forever. It will soothe your weary soul with fresh positiveness every day.

Clever enjoyable words Karilea.
