Artist: Angelica Kauffmann Poet’s Epitaph ( on seeing Kauffmann’s Virgil ) In youth the dream is so alive and sweet Beauty kisses the eyes with every glance Choices of the heart seek avenues meet To extraordinary desired chance Where Love passion smiles on a haloed moon Breathless sighs eclipse the wills demure gaze As the river runs so runs maiden soon And life floods spirit overflowing days Time becomes a pulsing landscape abyss Wooed but never stilled as though in a calm Eager to feel the rush of thoughtlessness And trembling, touch plush pleasures deepest psalm Perchance Autumn enters with peace to give Till Winter grips the soul that cannot live |

This is refined poetry, dear Bloodline. I savored every word. Yes you were beautifully inspired by that incredibly intense picture. A soft touch of melancholy in the end. Love, Margherita |
