Wearing the salt of a Rincon ocean
In a place between the shadow and the soul,
They straddled blue jean highways
Crazy hitch-hikers, filled with joy ride abandon
Until the velocity of their breathing
Proved the space-time continuum.

A sulana woman in plain paper wrapped
He knocked on the door of her heart
With crayons in hand
To color the words tattooed in her mind
With asphalt promises that
Melted under the heat of his cohiba.

It is to the humidor he reaches for now
and the silk that binds them together
Erato and Ovid, writhing in oceania’s surge

Bodies relinquished to white stone talismans
Until the copperhead calls from the abyss
And the craving for new begins... again.

Distance and time are not absolute,
Einstein said.
Neither are promises or contentment.

some afternoons
in her gauzy dream cream colors
she would pretend her ballet shoes
were stringless as slipped on liquor

DS-
Voyeurism does have its limitations. Thanks for your eyes.

IG-
Or a moment of fantasy as seen through the glass of a rear-view mirror perhaps?

This reads like a long ride on the perfect wave.

I love seeing your name here and taking in the view of your poetry.

A real temptation teaser, and such a treat Indigo~

That's true, until you get your eyebrows singed off! :-)  Thanks for the visit.

The Rincon truly is a magical place. I miss it terribly, having moved away from Ventura in '96.
The asphalt on PCH...well, it sizzles even in the cool of Spring. But your poetry really out sizzles it, Indigo. More, please.

Midnitesun -

You make me blush. PCH carries dreams that dare to stick their heads out of car windows so that they can (with apologies to Jimi) kiss the sky.

Many thanks,

Dear Margherita -
Your ability to uncover the essence of a writer's words is a true gift. Your kind words are a blessing.
