my boots were black as bad guys & hatless
you said there were things about my eyes
that made you feel you should be in trouble
then you laughed with your mother's laugh

you said you missed her more in the summer
and why hadn't I ever asked you to ride along
when I was going too fast to stay alive
up over the other ending of thirty three

you said you had heard stories about the dogs
that were made out of stone men's memories
but had never really seen them when sober
and did I want to keep them all as my demons

or were there enough of them to get to know you

It's a unique experience to listen to these sounds through your ears. The song tells a story all on its own - and the tune is haunting with its innuendo.
