Wild Ambition The dirt road ends And choke brush with briars Stand as game trail sentinel, An interloper approaches alone. The forest birds Watch in silence to see If this lone visitor will enter Their wild. Unconquered insects wait patiently For this hapless morsel. A wistful eye glances backward Then turns, willing a beating heart To cross primeval threshold. Senses thrill to the chorus Of unseen welcomers, Barking Squirrels chide this Two-legged intruder, Nervous Sparrows sing out Eager for a view, Distant Crows caw a warning omen As this strange figure nears The waters edge. Early morning courage Draws full length, Keeping to the easy path. Night or day the woodland never rests, A raw sweetness beguiles Each glade and hollow. Soft sounds of a little stream Pull cautious steps. Humble fisherman with simple pole And homemade offerings Stands transfixed above a pristine Honeyhole. Here, this one will battle With nature’s freshwater kings, Undaunted by past failures! |

Wonderfully written, especially love the last stanza. ... undaunted by past failures An advice to cherish in whatever situation requires patience. Love, Margherita |

Wow, this was so appealing...the fragrance of it took me over! ..."Night or day the woodland never rests, A raw sweetness beguiles Each glade and hollow. Soft sounds of a little stream Pull cautious steps. Humble fisherman with simple pole And homemade offerings Stands transfixed above a pristine Honeyhole. Here, this one will battle With nature’s freshwater kings, Undaunted by past failures!" Absolutely superb! |

We all have the ability to rise above or at least come to terms with adversity. Such beautiful visuals in which to get your message across. Enjoyed, very much!! |

A most enjoyable read! "Undaunted by past failures" but how those failures follow us and make us succumb before the battle has begun. Helen |

I'm grabbing my fishing pole and heading for that idyllic "Honeyhole". Besides the "Natural" beauty of this enchanting poem, I also appreciated the message within! EA |
