Forever In Your Heart

There she stood in the hushed twilight,
hands clasped with anticipation,
heart beating like an African drum,
she gazed in wonder and mystery,

As her deep dark eyes, combed the floor,
her breath became shallow, knees weak,
for that moment, her eyes beheld him,
the gift of the love Gods, a dream,

Within a second look their eyes met each other,
with a small refrain, she let out a giggle,
both were smiling ear to ear,
the butterflies were dancing.

Like an orphaned ghost floating,
suddenly he appeared before her eyes,
She was drawn to him instantly,
She embraced his outstretched hand,

Together they made quite a dance pair,
All eyes were upon them as they,
the lone dancers, lite up the dance floor,
once the ice was broken, others followed.

That was their first date, years ago,
she remembers it as if it were yesterday,
Her feet still wiggle when the songs play,
across her radio from time to time,

She misses dancing, the wind, the happiness,
most of all, she misses him,
her dance partner of life, of love,
hers was a tragedy, a love story never finished,

A love song unsung, a life's dance never danced,
He was killed one morning, driving home,
on his way back from work,
with an engagement ring in his pocket,

One she never knew of, til lately,
one she never got to wear,
time comes and goes, he is there,
in a written song, a dance,

When she thinks of him,
she smiles that same smile,
with that innocent little giggle,
Once more, the butterflies are dancing.

This made me smile very wide.

I actually had this thought (Okay, I was at a Grateful Dead concert) but still, all those gypsy-wimmen, dancing--and hey, the band was just tuning up!

Thank you for the memory-return.

Loveliness, and sometimes, dancing is simply poor navigational skills with grace!

(Meet the expert. )

Much enjoyed.

Keep all the dreams and memories in your heart, they will never die. And they will always bring a smile to your face.

A bittersweet sadness too
many hearts know, the soul
lives on but the heart recalls,
reminds me of, "The saddest words
of tongue or pen, to know the things
that might have been!"

A Romantic Heart - you did strike my heart with this writing. Way back when a similiar fate struck down my soul mate. This write brought back so many memories...

A bitter tale, my lover.

Can we but hope to remember those gone with love, and look with open eyes and hearts to the future?

This mournful melody played agony upon my soul.

Gentle one... I love you.
