He tawk like dis
and den like dat--
"I come from Meraux, yanno"
He had that look that such men have--
men dat weathered many storms.

Squinty eyes that sum things up
in an instant, and a knife
cleans his nails so casually
without a threat, but let's ya see.

He comes from deep Meraux yanno.

He gots shrimps, and it's no joke--
bigger than his thumb and that
was trawled against the tide....
and what? Da white trout? It was thrownnnnn

away

but there was less to laugh
when he wore his boots knee-high:
he slapped the waves a big "high-five"
and mighty pulled the weight of ten

men

beside him at the tide
that begged for tithe
of Anthony...

oh how I wish that I could sing

Beside him at high tide, I cried

to see my castle was denied

longevity. I'll build again,

further back, this time.

There's a longing and a memory in this one, that I can't get hold of, but I loved it. So I'll go and play an old Elvis song:The Song Of The Shrimps. It may mean nowt to you, but your poem brought it back to me..who cares?  I'm off to the cd stack.

oh j...I knew you'd know, so thank you, lovie, and Osprey, thank YOU.

longing

That's the keyword for the poem.

I'm glad "dat" wasn't lost in translation.

Love to you both.

Thirty miles added... and I'm still skeered. *S*

I loved this, lady... and you made me remember when someone wanting to "ax" me wasn't cause for concern. *S* Well done! *S*

Yo dear Serenity blaze,

Nice work Hon.

I haven’t been down that way in a while.  I used to do a lot of consulting at a chemical plant in Plaquemine.

Love Bobby
