Summer evening

Hushed is the wind and evening is calm
On a gentle night that's sure to bring
Release of scented dew laced balm
The owl and bat on silent wing

I listen to their call again
Across the meadows's moonlit trail
As heavens caress the trees with rain
To the sweet refrain of the nightingale

Emerging from a sylvan shield
The moon descends as if in flight
Following me across the field
As starlight tips each leaf with light

Summer sighs in fragrant shade
Where flowers butterflies entice
And dappled, dusky boughs cascade
In lush and perfumed paradise

Hushed now the song and silent the cry
Spent is the golden day's delight
The meadows forget my steps and I
Leave their still pathways to the night …..

PS:  I tried to correct an error in the first sentence, but it's not possible for some reason.

The first line should read:

"Hushed is the wind AND evening is calm"

Looks like your "change" took in your first line, Poet.
Sometimes we have to refresh the pages in order

Heart2Heart - Whenever the reader can see it, hear it, feel it and almost taste it, then the poet can testify to an impact of beauty as you have done here. Enjoyed muchly. Namyh

Enchanting verse throughout; could relate to the whispering breeze play

..."Emerging from a sylvan shield
The moon descends as if in flight
Following me across the field
As starlight tips each leaf with light"...

Found a favorite cupped within this artful setting.  Nicely done.

Your lovely poem reminds me of the nights when we were just young my older sister and I would lay out on the grass cuddled in a blanket and watch the stars and some times a bat would come by and we would squeel and hide our heads.

A view given with poetic grace,
a vision nature grants to few,

much like this morning when two
large Pileated Woodpeckers sat
on a pole just outside my door,
couldn't get my camera before
they flew away,
