I am a thought.

Because like begets like,
I give birth to other thoughts
and wonder, "Who am I ?"

I hear thoughts, see thoughts,
that arise from the thought
that I hear and see.

Every desire is only a thought.

I am a thought.

There is no pretense
other than, nor prior to,
the pretender.

I feel thoughts
and touch thoughts,
due to thinking
that I can be touched.

Worries are thoughts.
A problem cannot appear
unless a thought arises.

I cry because I think I cry.
I think I cry because I think I feel.
I think I feel because I think I can be touched.

I am a thought.

Understanding is a thought.
Delusion is a thought.
There is nothing for Delusion
to be deluded about.
Nothing for Understanding
to understand.

Because I am a thought
and like begets like,
thoughts arise.

There is the thought
of there being a
"Thinker",
who thinks thoughts.

Because I believe I think,
I think I believe...

I believe there is only
one experience.
It is the experience of
there being an
"Experiencer"

One dream.
The dream of a
"Dreamer",
dreaming dreams.

If I try and succeed
or try and fail,
both are rooted in
the thought that I acted.

Both arise from the thought,
"I am"
and apart from that one thought,
nothing has happened.

Hopes and wishes are desires.
Desires are thoughts that arise
from thoughts of "lacking"and "excess".

Attributes are thoughts
that I assign to thoughts.

What attributes
did any thing possess
prior to thought ?

Like begets like

I am a thought.

I am a thought that is thinking, "I like this."
Unique and original.

Wonderful and so much truth in your poem - I think there is so therefore there is.

I like this one backwards and forwards.  It's a good poem and I like that you are a thought.  You are one of my favorites here.

"I hear thoughts, see thoughts,
that arise from the thought
that I hear and see."

It just continues on, doesn't it?

I think you are a very good "experiencer" and a lovely "dreamer". There is a quantistic touch in this one. Very well done!

There are a lot of ideas in the "I Am..." poems I can relate to, but this one I feel very much, but more in the sense of reflection...to the emanations of spirit and intelligence and that which is more than body image in a mirror. We realize what we are cognizant of.

I thought of Shakespeare reading this, and have pondered it before:  "There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so."  I'm not sure I have a handle yet on the spiritual import of that statement, but your poem adds light and insight.  ~ Karen
