She had to leave him in a sudden rush Broken and picking up the pieces But the biggest part of him Is gone and his life ceases He misses her greatly There are reminders everywhere to torment His days all blend together With the evening he drops fallen, spent Whether in waking dreaming The good memories are torture Nothing feels real anymore Since he had last embraced her She was all that he knew And all that he ever wanted Now any mention of her Leaves eyes hollow and haunted People on the outside looking in See the death written there Upon his face and his being A sense of finality in the air And when he smiles It is only as an automaton Obvious something is missing His life is over, she is gone |

And when he smiles It is only as an automaton Obvious something is missing His life is over, she is gone And only the husk of him is left... *sigh* You've written desolation and grieving perfectly... whether the parting is of hearts or life itself... the devastation is overwhelming. Superb work!! |
