It’s springtime and the mountain air is clear. The birds are returning from their long journey’s south. Grass is turning green the trees are a bright, light green. In all the gardens, plants are poking their heads through soft brown soil, waiting to be feed this year’s concoction of fertilizer. Will it be compost or store bought delicacies? Yikes, the weeds are beginning to take over. Growing and spreading faster than one can blink. Where is the mistress who tends to us? We saw her earlier in the month but of late she seems to have disappeared. Ah, Ha! The reason for her absence would be those nasty Black Flies that invade the north country this time of the year. Mistress is allergic to their fierce bites and hates their constant head and ear buzzing. Therefore, we won’t see her until the birds have had their fill and the Black Fly adults have bred for the season and gone into dormancy. So weeds, enjoy your run of the gardens - Flowers, mistress will feed you When she dares to venture outdoors. May The Swarm Stay Far From You! |

Oh, dear Marti, how I do understand you!! Those monsters can get really nasty! Let the weeds enjoy their own season and stay safe, hope it will pass quickly. Here I have a problem with the tiger mosquitos. Since they bite also during the day I can't enjoy my balcony anymore. Well done! I love the concluding blessing! Love, Margherita |

Margherita, here in the north country, we are pestered first by the biting black flies, then the deer flies and lastly the blasted mosquitoes. We added on a 3 season porch to our house so we can enjoy ourselves in the summer and feel like we are outdoors. I hate flying, biting, stinging creatures and don't know why we have to have them! ooxx |

Mistress Marti ~ the garden can wait! No need to get eaten alive! I know all about those pesky critters! Those black flies are small ~ but they're mighty! ~ and as for the deer flies, they're almost as big as a deer! Then there are the horse flies up here in the Great White North ~ and they are as big as a friggin' horse with jaws as big as that of an alligator! Be safe my friend! Evil lurks out there! Surrounding you in protective White Light! Loveya! Linda xo |

Linda, I was giggling when I read your reply. They are definitely out to get us!! I do have a net that I wear over my head and I spray my clothes with Bug Spray containing Deet! Now that's a sight worth seeing!! And sometimes I wait for a real windy day. Ask the goddess to send lots of wind my way; just till I get the weeds under control. ooxx |

Marti, We are having beautiful sunny days right now and the mud is drying up from break-up. The mosquitoes are big, slow and breeding! Soon the Kamikazi kids will be flying and biting. And the flys will be here, but we don't get them in swarms (thank God). The wildflowers will be out and life is good. xoxoxo Alison who loves your poetry |

Alison, Life IS good!! It is sunny here too and the wind is blowing and that keeps those pesky black flies out of my eyes, nose, mouth and especially ears. Even my dog, Lily doesn't want to be outdoors. Thank you for responding. ooxx ________________________ |

It sounds as if flys are a problem. The mistress being attacked is definitely not a good thing. Are bees a problem? At any rate this was an interesting read. |
