Night of fireworks The night of her rape was also of fireworks; fluorescent flowers breeding in the instant sky celebrating the end of a war which hadn’t ended. She tried to wipe the blood but its stains wouldn’t go like the marks of straps she had after a sunbath. Her legs dangled over the black flow of water. Water was mischievous; calling her to dive. Near the roots of a tree lied open, naked. Looking into erosion could be unsettling. She could hear the name which water called; she was going to answer but instead a fear griped her; she touched the tree; head hammered the tree trunk. The coke she had. Bang! Bang! The boy friend. Bang! Bang! She joined the party. Bang! Bang! A strip tease. Bang! Bang! Organs went awry. Bang! Bang! She would have to invent a different story. Bang! Bang! Her father had two siblings. Bang! Bang! The one he loved most was a stillborn. Bang! Bang! A fire worked inside her like life itself it burned and it made her a chunk of coal, stronger. =© 2009 - All Rights Reserved Kushal Poddar clever talks delay friendship! |

I am glad for your conclusion, it does not always go this way ... many victims dwell in weakness and shame. You treated this delicate theme with impressive power and vividness... and sensitivity. What a scenery! I felt like wanting to reach out so badly ... Love, Margherita |

Another sensitive, compassionate, powerful and masterful word-painting that touches the deepest corner of the soul. Like Margherita, I am glad, too, about the last line, but, at what a cost! Thank you for your compassion and humanity, Kushal. |

Kushal, this is a delicate subject to write on, much relief in the end. Many live through this situation however many don’t. Good read. "Hardwork pays in the long run" |

Yo Poddarku, Your poem has interestingly deep social and psychological meaning. Father's can sometimes be a big problem. Bobby |

"A fire worked inside her like life itself it burned and it made her a chunk of coal, stronger." ~ The more pressure exerted on a chunk of coal, the more precious the diamond. Thankfully she was not a cookie that could have crumbled over her ghastly and unthinkable ordeals. A distasteful subject ~ tastefully (and masterfully) told. You're a fine writer, Ku! Linda |
