Fifth of Rum (1980's)by Rick Delmonico In an instant I could see the strain. It read upon his face like pain. I would have asked him to explain but he just hobbled off again. Least wise I'll remind his mum, if she recalls the backward bum. Then once I recollect the sum, I'll pick us up a fifth of rum. It's amazing how confused some people get. They've all got something to regret. Wish I knew a way to get them blackmailed into silent debt. Anyway I saw your dad. He's off chasing another fad. Said out of town it could be had. Hope he finds it I'd be glad. Tell me where you hid the car. I'll tell you where all Junes' friends are. Maybe we could take them far. I've gas enough to reach the bar. We'll get them gone on thunderbird and then we'll say the magic word. After that we'll sure feel cured. That lot's a gas or ain't you heard. Rick Delmonico |

This is my impression of a certain type of person I have met in the past and in no way reflects my feelings or attitudes. Rick Delmonico |

Rick, I always read most poems but find I can't respond to those about drinking after living the results of how it ruined a good marriage and happy life. And I am always afraid the poster will think I am condemning them when I am just "feeling" the results of their words. M |
