She Misses Her Momma

my best friend’s
best friend is gone
how do I hold her hand
hold her heart
wipe away tears
she hides from the world
pretending she is tough
when she is tender

she misses her momma

when she leans
to kiss her own daughter
and thinks it wasn’t
suppose to be this way
no one was prepared
for that goodbye

she misses her momma

where she now walks
in fields of fireflies
that we look up to see
from here as stars
and her lullabies are
whispers on the wind

she misses her momma

a torn heart is a hurt
to never get over
but days bring
things a little easier
from a face never to forget
for my best friend’s
best friend is gone

and she is missing her momma

"I'm so hard to handle
I'm selfish and I'm sad."

It is tough to read... but so very touching, so very beautiful.

But yanno??? It sounds strange and isn't meant to make light of her pain... but I envy her. I miss my momma too... but we never had the chance or time to become friends.

Hugs to your friend... and to you, too. *S*

This touches my heart for my own reasons,
Helen. So sad.

Your friend is fortunate to have you to help support her through this very difficult time.

Tears are welling in my eyes, for I am missing my mama, too... So tenderly, and compassionately written, Helen.

Love & Eternal Light,

Very beautiful and compassionate, Helen.  Almost like Ruth, I wish I missed my momma or my pappa or had had a sibling to miss.

This is heart-wrenching.  And as always, spare, with not a bit of fat on it.  Everything here is needed, and everything is where it needs to be.

You express the emotions quite well in this and it's impact is powerful.  You could almost feel the longing, the pain, the all of it.  Superb job and truely well written.

Helen,

You caught my heart with this one.  It aches for your friend and your poem is wonderful.  It is beautiful.
