when mercy's hand with forgiveness reigns
and joy salts it pleasure on bitter's plains

so no grief grows nor harshness flows
in basins fraught with regrets, nor hate bestows

its soured jaundice over heartbreak furrows of despond
to sow the saddened seeds of discord just beyond

the mem'ries of discouraged thoughts and dreams
so that that which is real is not as real as it seems

as mercy touches with light affliction
that which shows itself as soft addiction
from a heart alive with grace-conviction
and the ugly past is sweet-forgiven

Bitter torments, they are.

Forgiveness is a boon that evades me, but still, bittersweet as it is, it was a pleasure reading.

Jaundice is yellowing of the skin due to liver problems right?

Steaven,   I really loved this:

as mercy touches with light affliction
that which shows itself as soft addiction
from a heart alive with grace-conviction
and the ugly past is sweet-forgiven

Cool use of Rhyme.

Fizzle,
you captured the essence of it all with your generous comments...and you are right on the jaundice thing...nice catch...bear with me, as it comes from the liver (as in living life in this case)...I know, a stretch, but just work with me on it...thanks

Tracey,
so glad you liked the part you quoted...needed to part from the rest of the write and wasn't sure it would work...thanks for noticing it

Bill,
not that I have mastered all the wonderful forms that exist, but sometimes, I just feel the need to depart down a new path...thank you for reading and for commenting...
