I shall wait for you this evening, at the frontier of your dreams;
that warm, soft place ten seconds into nothingness... where it would seem
reality and fantasy entwine... the borderlands of sleep;
come, drift away, and join me there;
we have a rendezvous to keep.

Where shall we go? Who shall we be? What shall we do; both you and I?
Perhaps, some sensual interlude... a sweet, romantic lullaby
of gentle kisses, soft caresses; secret longings, never told;
enfolded in the soft embrace of dreams... these things, we may unfold.

Or, perhaps, some memory of something read... or something seen.
Some poignant love, from out a novel... or, from off the Silver screen.
Mark Antony and Cleopatra? Lancelot and Guinevere?
Some star-crossed love? How so much sweeter... as the parting time draws near.

Or, to wander down the winding path of sweet desire, to find
ourselves in some romantic classic summoned by the slumbering mind.
Perhaps, in Brief Encounter; on the Station platform... wreathed in steam,
the train departing with your heart...
a kiss not shared; a plaintive dream.

Or; it may be that we are ourselves. No need for fantasy;
although we know that what we share in dreams, is not reality.
Nor ever could be... but, no matter;
for, our rendezvous... I'll keep;
should you call me to your dreaming...
in the borderlands of sleep.

...such a cool phrase

"come, drift away, and join me there;
we have a rendezvous to keep"
...what a wonderful invitation...certainly draws the reader in

"of gentle kisses, soft caresses; secret longings, never told;
enfolded in the soft embrace of dreams"
...nice, simply nice

If I slept too long, I would miss
such beautiful words of poetry written,
such as yours written here~

~loved your play of words and thoughts,
and what you made me think as I was reading~

Windhover - One thing about dreams is they provide a myriad of options for lovers who would leap into fantasy together, hand in hand. The originality and craft of your words places this piece on the borderland of poetic gems. Hats off Windhover. Namyh

That is a very sweet and tender poem
my friend and a real delight to read
Keep up the good work.
