It Seems My song Has Ended |

It seems my song has left me- Inspiration’s spring run dry… No urge to write remaining- And I can’t but wonder, “Why?” No desire to bring arenas- From my past, again to life… Nor immortalize my memories, Of parents, kids, or wife… Nor to paint the western deserts- With a brush of lead, or ink- As the palette of a sunset, Waits for mortal eyes to drink. No more trails with cattle lowing- No more leather’s easy creak, Nor immortalizing heroes, Nor lamenting for the weak- No more ghost towns shutters banging As the desert wind blows cold- My heart, just like my body- May be growing weak, and old. But I’m glad I had a passion- First to live, and then to write… My scribbles on the walls of time, Before entering death’s night. |

Sometimes I feel that way and then the desire to write returns. Maybe you just have writer's block. Ida |

This is really good. one of the poems I just posted is along the same lines as this. The title was "If you never feel this way I question your title as poet" you sir, are a poet. Keep flying to the sun with these gargoyle wings. |

You have never written a thing that I did not enjoy reading. Maybe you can now spend the time to edit and publish. I know many would like to have a copy. I would, latearrival |

Sometimes, GS... there's just a pause in the verses... the melody carries on. I hope that yours does... for a long LONG time! *S* |

John, I have followed your writing since I came to PiP a couple of years ago. I have enjoyed your stories, tasted the dust, smelled the cattle and felt the bruises of the cowboys. Thank you. Alison |

Let's hope your yearning to write returns because we need to hear more after you have a rest. This was great as long as it 's not true. Rae |

Yo Gunslinger, You'll get over it pal. The urge to write will return for you. This one works well enough. Bobby |

I have always enjoyed your poetry Gunslinger And I enjoy this one as well. But don't pull up stakes just yet, as using your PC is a lot easier to use than a saddle on a bucking Bull. We want to read much more of your poetry so keep at it. Lindsay |

Well done cowboy poet! Your trail is filled with imagery and delighted all who read. Please, keep that cowboy paintbrush handy, dust off more songs! |

Please don't go. We need more of your kind. I so enjoyed this but felt a pang in my heart. Rest but don't retire. Billie C. |

Gunslinger, I understand the "song" ending from time to time ~ however, your closing line gave me pause for consideration!!! I seriously hope that you are well ~ and that it is only your inkwell that is drying up! I am tucking this away in my folder of poems by poets about writing poems! Happy trails, Cowboy! Keep that pen of yours at the ready ~ you never know when or where ~ inspiration will get that ink flowing again! Vaya con Dios! EA |
