Come my friend you wait for me Covering everything I wish to see Concealing another’s destiny; My friend Darkness. Within my friend lies another friend That left me to go find the other end Gone so now no letter I can send; Through the Darkness. Mailboxes grow battered and lost As the sending rises again in cost So into the trash letters are tossed I talk to Darkness. A friend of a friend pass it along Tell him I miss what’s now gone But I’ll just carry on In my Darkness. What has it been, days or years? Sharing laughter sharing tears Comforting each other’s fears Then you left for eternal darkness. Sure times have changed People and places rearranged While you rest in Darkness I’ll see you one day In new light But not too soon I hope Gloom |

A friend once told me that her depression was like waking up every morning under a heavy, black cloud. I have no first-hand knowledge , but I can epathise. Bereavement is the most personal of human emotions, and a very lonely place. I think your poem is, indeed, for everyone. Thank you. |
