Young Lovers And Old Loves What’s different ‘tween young lovers And those who’ve loved awhile? Can you see it in their eyes Or detect it in their smile? Is the love they have unique Or are they both quite the same? Do the same rules still apply? Is one just an older game? Will new love last forever? Longer than the old time thing? Are the old songs more familiar Than those the young one’s sing? Are the first feelings of love Much more intense than the last? Are those new found carefree days Any happier than those past? Does a lover’s pain hurt worse Whether it is old or new? Are the skies above darker When there are those days of blue? Will teardrops from crying eyes That roll down a saddened face Carry more pain or sorrow When lost love, they can’t replace? Will the memories that they share Be worth less to either one Thoughts of places that they’d seen And all of those things they’d done? Young lovers and old loves Are really just the same The only difference is One plays an older game. Abe, Very good questions, And a wonderful ending. I have had long loves, and new loves, I will take the long one, and keep it new. Great poem. Tracey |
