The sun is tired, it shines its final ray Evidence the sun has called it a day Animals scatter to their hole The forest now silent, no sight of a soul Perhaps to foreshadow the forest’s fate The birds let us know it is too late As they try to fly away from potential harm Then several men approach carrying chainsaws, otherwise known as nature’s firearm As the animals return, they know something’s wrong As these strangers destroy the homes to which they belong The helpless animals can only look on In less than an hour their only home is gone The forest, known for it’s beauty and elegance at first sight Deserved a better outcome on this fatal night Deep amongst the rubble and filthy debris Stands a tiny little newborn tree For miles on end, it stands alone in isolation This tree is a sign of hope, forget the devastation The air is filled with a blinding smog The aftermath leaves not even a log The animals gather around the newborn tree As if they were asking god to set them free They wonder what did they ever do wrong? Though homeless, they remain strong The strong-willed animals now near the footsteps of death They would eventually take their last breath Perhaps they approach heaven’s gateways At last, they can look to better days Years later, that tiny tree would eventually grow a forest again If that tree could talk, it would thank those men For they are the reason it took it’s first breath They had a part in the phenomenon known as Life After Death |

Welcome to Passions, and please check your email for a very special greeting from us all. Your poem certainly depicts the concern of every single parent, and grandparent today, as we all deplete our forests, and animal population. Well done indeed. Carpe' Diem, |
