Who am I to allow you,
to take the one thing,
the one thing that brings,
me happiness?

I stand and cry these frozen tears,
they are only pieces of ice,
little shards stabbing,
the heart of me,

I breathe, my breath cannot escape,
held within, I am suffocating ,
You stand with your power,
your control over me,

As I am a prisoner in my home,
with these chains, binding,
I cannot go far, constricted,
to the playground of you.

Why must love be so, true love,
through the ages, it has been,
when true lovers love,
jealous admirers destroy,



Hating the very thought of,
love they cannot have,
with this person who loves another,
Love must be the most powerful force,

For others to want to destroy it,
so badly, envy, want , desire,
selfishness, not morals,
not wanting what is best,

Not wanting what makes the other happy,
but to steal, kill, and destroy,
rip it out, over and over again,
tearing, until nothing is left.

I don't care what the world says,
foolish to live and not live,
to love and not really love,
for I will love no matter what!

Secret places we will meet,
where our hearts become one,
down by the river Rhyne,
lovely tress swaying about,

For this love, I give my world,
my sons and daughters, all I have,
For love is powerful, love is all
there really is,

When you are breathing that last breath...

Interesting point!:

This ‘write’ effectively delimits
the dangerous, dark edge of
(one-sided ) ‘control’ disguised
as ‘love’ …

[I feel though, that v. large photo.-images detract
  from the impact of the message in the words and
  negatively impact readability]

I agree with SHDP with regard to the "effective delimiting"... but I would say it's more a very eloquent hard punch between the eyes.
A definite wake-up call for all the control freaks out there... it should be made compulsory reading for all men.

A beautiful and powerful poem dear Heart.

Many people will wish to destroy love out of either jealousy, desire or sheer prosaic hate.

The best thing we can do in those circumstances is to keep on loving in defiance of vilifiers and pretenders, to hold true to the most powerful force humankind has been gifted.

When I see your face all the angels are shamed.
