Kited Euphoria Updrafts, the swallowed whole of warm winds and cold tears Disputed in blustery March, donning pigtails and bows Colored pinafores, just coveralls for crosses sent in highs and lows Painted with imagination, spirited in aired gyration Songs sung to the clouds Dive and sway, as if in mime of nature’s way Peter Pan has lost his gift of flight, falling earthbound in the night There I shall be this little light called freedom Sewing skirts in ruffled flute, lifting off in resolute His hand in mine, to take up reign upon the wind Blue skies of morning, showered fresh A day to lift my eyes, and soar my spirit soar April plays in ways of kite and tale, billowing in swift regale Updrafts, the swallowed whole of warm winds Expressed in thoughts let to set sail Copyright Kkh 4/2/09 |

"Songs sung to the clouds: Beautiful! ~sigh~ I spent many hours flying kites at the beach. This brings back a flood of (mostly fun) memories. |

fine (impressionistic) 'slice of life' Spring imagery in this most high-flying 'write' ! much applause for this 'penning' !! |

You gave us Spring in one of it's finest moments and a pure delight to read. Anything painted with the imagination is usually a good thing but from your pen, it glows. Appreciating this one much. |

ohhhhhhhhhh my... you got me to the place of "remember when"... and yes, I was taught how to make my own, and I'm so glad that I learned that the weight of the tail means so much more than what that implies today. I'm old enough to remember, too, the excitement of the affordable "batwing" kite. Your poetry always smooths my worriesome lines, but it has occurred to me, that you also manage to hide wisdom in the honey... Lovely stuff, kind lady. I thank you. |

K: I sensed the kite flights through the entire read, just the way you've written it, with its connections to life and flow. The first time I read it, I was at the beach watching kites launch at the very moment the rains lifted. Delightful writing! |
