When the road turns so sharply that it seems it ends When the pathway turns hiding its cruel bends Don't stand by the roadside hitching Don't scratch the itch that's itching When the pool of love seems so deep that it's stillness hides beneath its charm When the waters rest to a seeming calm its reflections many are cause for alarm Don't go in where the water's deep Don't let life's demons your soft-soul keep And say to yourself through all your trials I can surely go on for miles and miles I'll swim to the other shore away from the past 'Til I learn to love myself at last |

Yo Steavenr, There's really no need to go through much rig-a-marrow, love yourself right now, even if no one else will. You're the important one in that respect. Nice poem well done Babe. Bobby |

Marc, Thank you kindly for your very generous comments. Burk, Good to have you with us...thanks for your very nice comments...will look forward to seeing some of your work. Linda, pithy AND insightful...thanks for reading and commenting...thank you for your wishes Bobby, I totally agree, however this was written to someone that life had put through the ringer. Lest anyone think this was written to be a guide to success, let's just say it's more like a 'what-do-I-do now' recipe for 'lemonade' from life's lemons. Oh, the Babe comment...I guess I'm sensitive to that only because others here (I guess for the spelling of my name--who knows) have thought that I am female. For the sake of clarity, I am a guy...just in case someone would think otherwise. No big deal, but just feel I need the record to be clear (and so I don't get called poetess again.) ![]() Eric, Thank you...call me a Pollyanna...I just love positive messages...glad you stopped by. |

I read this as quite personal, a message to a particular sweet shadow. Join you in sentiment, and appreciate the positive message. ![]() |

Steave, I couldn't help but chuckle at BJ's "Babe" comment. Steave, I believe that the spelling of your name might be somewhat confusing to some of your readers ~ I know it was to me at first. However, it became quite apparent to me that you are a guy and not a gal! lol ![]() ![]() Linda |

TD, you are not only wise but insightful as well...you have looked and seen the soul of this write...thank you for your illuminating response Linda, ...all smiles...I guess I am way too touchy, but I just don't how else to let folks know (that I am a guy) than by just saying so...just so you know, I recently found my named spelled the way I spell it referring to a 1666 event AND it was a record of descendants from the Mayflower...and all this time I have accepted my inheritance of being on the shore waiting...now I will have to entertain the notion that Mom's side was waiting on Dad to arrive ![]() Margherita, you are right...I know that it was (and if you know who it was, the request is for more prayer)...thank you for reading and certainly for commenting...all involved say 'thank you' Bill, thank you...every day I deal with people I find that most with the greatest problems have not learned to do one of two things...1, to forgive themselves, and 2, to accept and love themselves... |

Wow, loving thyself, now that's harder than it seems isn't it, at least for me it always has been. I guess every now and then, I kinda like myself though... kinda. Hey Steven this one hit me like a ton of rocks. Oh and hey, Like Kojak would always say, "Who loves you baby." ![]() |
