He retracted big bear claws
and held my face in padded paws
to force my eyes direct within
the gentle fierce of passion's hymn
rumble-throat and cushioning
a tumble and a big bear ghost
in the imprint of the snow
like an angel I had known

and never, none shall know again.

He told me that he loves me, so,
I'll never need to trust the men
who tracked my hooves deep in the grim
sin of frost of meagering
buried in the meat of glen
where berries, in the spring, grow wild

and quibbles of the leaflets spend

the harvest in the spiral growth
leaflings yellowing the sprigs
nibbled delicate, as though
I might not ever see my own
belly growing tight again
and so I leave the blooms alone

foraging with common sense.

My legs are twigs of shivering
stopping only for a twist
of my neck, compassionate,
wishing for a trace of his

hands caressing my deer face

offering release, and grace

of the cornucopia

and flakes

of snow upon my nose

and shakes:

faceinhands

and totem's lace

watering my tongue...

"foraging with common sense."
Yep, that's what keeps us out of the brambles.
A very special write, lady K.

You bring emotion, dear Karen, because you render your own emotions so masterfully.

Thank you.

Sometimes, the world stops its spin so that words can be savored... or maybe that was just my breath stopping.

Magnificent!!!

Helen?

Y'think it's okay if I write something for money?

It probably won't work that way, huh?

Good Goddess, but I do love you...

And I'm happy...I just wish I could shrug off the money thing, like Forrest Gump:

"One less thing to worry 'bout."

And I can't believe we're expecting a crowd of thirty thousand people here for Jazz Fest and you're not one of 'em.

my soul...this is like watching one of the great masters pour out his soul on canvas, only later to hit me over the head with that same masterpiece...wow...and that's only what I says when words fail me...and having read this...they do

My minds eye sees a wise old tribe leader, sitting with his elders around a slow smoking campfire and speaking low and calm of his visions.

this is such a cool write.

Much enjoyed.
Tracey.

stevenr summed it up pretty darn good.  I love your poetic slices of life.  When I first read it I thought it was about your brother.

I don't mean to be difficult.

and I am laughing at the JoAnn Worley thing, Uriah. Perhaps we should put our pics together, and do a small spin on the match.com.

*cracking up*

I think it would be hilarious! Think about that one, will ya?

And thanks everyone for reading.
