Bones is hanging
Second and Poplar Sts.,
he’s looking for a pickup.

A creep comes by,
Bones makes a deal,
and the guy takes him home.

The creep undresses Bones,

and notices Bones
has a Miraculous Medal
hanging around
his scrawny neck.

“Yo kid,
you one of them Papist
or what?

Take that thing off
from round your neck
right now.”

“Nah, that’s okay mister,
I likes it there.
It makes me feel good.
What if I dies or somethin,
then I’d want a Priest
round to take care of things.

Were all Catholic
from my hood,
that’s all you’ll find.”

“Forget it kid,
I don’t want to deal
with that kind of stuff.

Get dressed,
and I’ll take you back
to your corner.

Here’s ten bucks
for your trouble.”

Bobby

Okay, this is really sad! ~ and because I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing.
One, He didn't have to prostitute, yay! and but then, he doesn't get to make as much as he could of, unless ten is enough? lol I don't know, the whole thing is sad!

Thanks dear Artic Wind,

Hey, don't knock it Hon.  Ten bucks is a lot of money.  That will keep Bones for a couple of days.  It was an easy night.

The contradictions of Bones' life and experiences are well rendered with this piece, dear Bobby.

Thanks dear Margherita,

As you know, Bones always tries to do the best that he can.  Bones life is hard.

Bones stood his ground ~ and 'miraculously' his 'trick' respected him for that!

That medal served Bones well!

Thanks Yann,

For your kind words on this poem.

As you may remember, that medal worked for Bones.  Here is the first poem about Bones, where I introduced him:

"Angelo and the Mysterious Bones"

After being hit by a car,
Angelo ends up at Saint Agnes.

He’s in a children’s ward.

On one side he has another kid
with a broken arm,
the kid never stops talking.

On the other side
there’s a skinny kid,
that just lays there,
saying nothing al all.

The talkative kid says
they call the silent kid Bones.

They say Bones is very sick,
that’s all they know about him.

No one ever visits Bones.

When Sally comes to visit Angelo,
she always says hello to Bones.

It does no good,
Bones just lies there,
he doesn’t even move.

One day the
sisters draw the curtains
around Bones.

A doctor comes in to look at Bones.

When the doctor comes
from behind the curtain,
he just shakes his head.

A Priest is called.

The Priest spends
some time with Bones.

In a little while,
the sisters wheel Bones
out on a cart.

All Angelo can see
is a lump where Bone’s head
should be
and another lump
where his feet are.

Angelo tells Sally all about it.

Sally just shakes her head, and says:

“That poor little kid,
dieing all alone like that—
at least he’ll go straight to heaven.

The Priest took care of that.”

Good one Bobby, at least Bones finished up

with ten bucks better off. Can't complain about that. Take care my friend.

Thanks dear Ida,

Yes it did, both in the case with the creep, and when Bones died.  The last rites of the Church (Anointing of the Sick) are very comforting to a believer.

Thanks dear Juli,

Yes, what you say is so very true.  Creeps like that only think of themselves.  They are extremely selfish and self centered.  They don’t care how much they hurt a kid like Bones.

Love Bobby
