OUR DAD By Billie Cullimore One man who's heart was always willing To give up every joy he ever had To grant our every wish, for one small Pleasure. Of hearing children voices call him,"Dad." For years dad's life was one hard struggle. To get the things that little children need. The clothes and food that kept us growing stronger. But, to his own worn boots he gave no heed. He chopped the wood and built the fire, To keep the cabin warm. He plowed the fields and sowed the seeds. And helpd the calves be born. With big rough hands he carved a cradle. With saw and spade he built our home. God alone was his instructor. He knew the gift of life was just a loan. He faced the wintry blast to get a doctor. To free his love from deaths tightening snare. And while the surgeon worked with skillful labor. Knelt down beside his bed in humble prayer. He loved, he laughed, worked at his best. He took lifes troubles as they came. Was there to give his strength to us. And didn't try to beat the game. So now he's gone to his reward. Don't greave and don't be sad. He did his best down here on earth. So, please, God, accept our dad. |

Billie, I know your Dad must have been as proud of you as you are of him. How would I know this? From the words of your poem - it's a fine poem that would make him proud. I am sure. Alison |

I don't often get a chance to stop in and spend time reading too many of everyone's thoughts... and I have obviously missed out. I guess it's time to go back and find others that you have written and enjoy them as much as I have enjoyed this one. Please accept my belated welocme to the family! What would you attempt to do...if you knew you could not fail? |

So touching. My Grandpa was the father figure in my life. Makes me ache for him, but thankfully reminds me of where he is. |
