I like to sing my poems out loud, preferably when I'm at home. I Google strangers numbers and I call them on the telephone. I give no introduction, no I don't give them a clue, so if you're not unlisted I might just croon one of them to you. I clear my throat and softly hum and that's when I begin to bleat I tap my finger on the bar it helps my voice keep up the beat Sometimes I change the thumping to sing a sad love song. A ballad's nice and easy if it isn't very long. Sometimes I dance like Elvis and I put on my blue shoes Sometimes my nephew Steven helps me out with his guitar I moon walk in the kitchen with my hand upon my hat or break dance on the table if the poem doesn't rhyme I'll get my hips a movin if I'm singin in the nude a G-string keeps me groovin when I'm feelin kinda lewd But always I remember when I'm singing from my home my first line has to hook you or you might hang up the phone. So if you aren't unlisted and you don't have phone I.D. if someone says he wants to sing a poem to you- it's me. [This message has been edited by critical mass (03-28-2009 09:28 AM).] |

What a hilarious novel approach to sharing poetry! Hmmm, best to leave the camera off the cell phone for some of those songs so you don't end up tapping your fingers 'behind the bars'. |

One time I had a collection agent call and by the time I finished talking to him ( he was just glad I didn't hang up on him like so many do)and after a brief conversation, I wrote a poem for his mother's birthday. M |

Y'know....as an administrator, I tried to find something in this poem and its title that would make me pull this cutie. But for you, and fortuntely, this "ring" doesn't sound right. Good for you. I'd tell you to behave, but apparently, you already knew not to put a member's number, nor any other number, up for exhibit. So, cute poem! |

What a pity, you're in Canada and I am in South Africa - and also that I am 63! I'd love to be sung to over the phone! Owl |

This is cute. If the poems are uplifting I think it could be some really good therapy for some. I am impatient on the phone, so you are right, it is important that the first words uttered conquer people's interest. Good luck! This was a joyful read. If you dance like Elvis ... you might recite your poems on youtube too. Love, Margherita |
