Gathering ThoughtsStep by step, Farther and farther, As the lapping waves, Wash away each footprint, To aimlessly wander, Nowhere to go, No one but me, Time stands still for a moment, Soft ocean breezes, Blow through my hair, Blow my memories, To a place I wish to be, Step by step, My mind returns, To my old home, Leaving footprints by the SEA.
The answer is always NO, Until the question is asked.

In spite of the fact that I was just a girl when my family moved from our oceanside home, I still miss the sand, the endless skies and the sea spray. Trips to the coast are simply not the same as living there...
You captured this longing to return, perfectly! ~ as SEA can attest!

Yo WTBAKELAR,
This is a good presentation. Yes, there's nothing like the shore.
The young lady looks like one of my sister-in-laws. If the hair had been black, then she would look like my wife.

Thanks Suzy, I am so happy you like it. I wrote it for all who wish to be by the sea again, If only in their dreams. Linda, Sometimes, just the simple things like a walk along the shore, feeling the sand between your toes, Makes everything OK.
Thank you both so much for your wonderful comments.
Sweet memories. Tracey.

Blow my memories, To a place I wish to be,
Oh, this is so lovely!! Not for me... but a wish can sure be a welcome respite from reality. *S*

Tracey, this means a lot to me too, since leaving my gulf coast home for cow fields and farmland.

PS, Isn't it amazing how different a few miles can be? I have not spent a lot of time near the oceans, but have enjoyed the times I have.
Although, I grew up playing in the fields, Mountains and streams around Utah, I have been through every state except Alaska, Hawaii, and a few New England states, oh, and Florida. I took a cross country train from N.J. Where I was born, to where I now call home.
I love this country, and All it's varied beauty.
Glad you enjoyed my poem Tracey.
