~ To a rose ~

A rose with petals smooth as silk
And such a lovely sheen
No wonder that of all the blooms
It reigns as Season's Queen

For be it lemon, pink or white
Or of a deep red hue
What can surpass a fragrant rose
Fresh-diamoned with dew ?

Who will deny that roses make
The bonniest of posies
For having known, who could forget
The lovely scent of roses ?

So beautiful in summer sun
They hold my heart in thrall
Symbol of love, they are in turn
Adored by one and all....

Reminded me a little of Keats - he often wrote verse just to cheer his friends in his letters. This cheered me.
