You close your eyes and it all goes away, The hatred you nutured erased in one stroke, You gloat while hiding from your quarry, Claiming victory is yours to savour. But alike boomerang in a tornado, The tempest can turn and strike you back, Bringing fresh terror and horror in its wake, Never letting go of the hateful past. You can cling to your ideals and not give in, It is admirable to stand and fight, But sometimes the war can never be won, When the enemy refuses to die. Yet you never concede to their spite, You never allow them to grind you down, Even when they shout about coming back, The only one it hurts is them. |
