You have my love and that is that;
I do not ask for yours
but I want your strength of mind
to not break down and cry
and your nerves of steel
that never shiver, shake,
with the advent of desire.

I want the water in your veins
to wash my passion out
and your heart’s well formed icicles
to encourage frozen depths
within the all of me.

I want your ruler to draw lines
around good memories
and your curtains to pull across
inappropriate insight
and then I want your pen
to boldly write, “The End”.

I want your hand that closes doors
and your feet that walk a million miles
away from mindful love
and then I want your pose
of wilful unawareness
and finally your recline
in sheer ignorance.

All of this I do not have
but I know to wait and wait
until I myself wrap that and more
in my survival kit!

Oh, Helen... This hits home and hits hard... I've never figured out how to replace warm blood with icicycle veins, either.

And to tell the truth... I wouldn't want to... losing love is bad enough... losing myself would be worse. *sigh*

Excellent write!!!

Thank you, Ruth.  I will never lose myself because I have no intention of letting all the effort of finding myself go to waste but I never refuse a gift even if it's one I've had to ask for.  However, life experience has taught me that we seldom get what we want so I reckon I'm stuck with being "me"... until I know how to wrap and pack properly and permanently.     Survival is, after all, the name of the game.

Thanks again.

There are some true top reflections in this mindful and brilliant poem, dear Helen. Men are probably all rather recalcitrant to manifest clearly "an end" to a story. They simply can't handle it. And as long as they know that they are loved anyway, they don't even see a reason to consider parting.

Good luck, beautiful heart!

Love,
Margherita

I didn't know where you were going with this so I really loved the end.
Very clever and an excellent write.

Some poeple are so cruel and uncaring,  it is certainly in our best interest to come up with survival tactics.

Now I'm going to be singing Gloria Gaynor.

"Did you think I'd crumble, did you think I'd lay down and die, oh no not I"

This was sad to read, and I hope it eased your pain somewhat.

Hugs, honey~

Thanks everyone for your kind comments.  Pain is like the moon.  It comes and goes, changes form, but for now and evermore we always know it's there.

Hi, Honey Child! Even with your display of womanly strength and wisdom, I sense your vulnerabllity. Actually, that combination is often sought by men in their search for the perfect woman. ~ A woman/child of sorts. But with you, there most definitely more of the woman ~ and that's a good thang!

As you love, so may you be loved! ~ Tenfold!!!

Warm, loving hug,
Linda
