Morning Announcement Red Winged Blackbirds chisel the darkness from dawn Staking out their portion of the sky, as breakfast with a view Come Sun, Look at me! Look at me! Steam from my coffee billows to coat the porch glass Where I stand here in the blind, watchful At times, feeling I have slept through summits of blue When the clouds wicked to cudgel tern’s songs As they echoed from some distant shore Cream cheeks of moon, turn face to the horizon Sipped, just as the steaming froth from my cup Morning announcement, The Robin has left the woods Copyright Kkh 3/14/09 |

Oh, today was the first day it felt like spring. Last night, I heard a robin singing, and saw him hopping around the yard today! YAY!!! Your poem made me smile, knowing you immerse yourself in nature's arms while savoring a hot mug of coffee, the same way I like to greet nature on a cool 30F spring morning that made it to 50F by noon. |

Love the last line double meaning. What a great view of verse to enjoy the Morning Announcement. |
