. Old oaks In full leaf Cool blue Summer shade Boys on bicycles Imagining themselves Calvary or Sabre Fighter cavaliers Racing down the road Cats and dogs Patrolling Their neighborhood Oldsmobiles Painted olive drab Parked along the curbs Silent bats Flitting in the light Of wooden poled Streetlamps late at night While under a million Twinkling stars Dreaming about The girl next door You never cared for Not that long ago Though not really Knowing why . |
