He stood upon the lonely hill, and watched the Goldening, Western sky; out there, his true love lingered still... he shivered in the evening chill and knew... it was, Goodbye. No word from her for ages, now. Had she, so soon forgotten him? Had he done wrong? But when, or how? She gave no clue... he did not know; or, was what he thought love... her whim? For him... it was love at first sight; those great, big eyes of softest blue; to drown in them, was his delight... this time, this really did feel right... softly whispering... I love you. Soft promises... sweet heart-thoughts shared together... both their lives, as one. The Fairy Tale... The Dream declared; two hearts entwined, two hearts that cared; to walk together, in the Sun. One day, he called... she was not there; no message left... no reason why. He searched in vain, most everywhere, and, as time passed... so, grew despair; and passing time... caused hope to die. And, so he turned upon the hill; no more... to watch the Goldening sky. The young moon's light, his face did fill; and shone on tear-tracks, softly spilled all down his cheeks, in his Goodbye. |
