Dismissal of the missives cast
and like a feather scarf's contrast
the sacred words taken to own
are powerless against the throne.

Here--I challenge ye to fence--
an epee or epopee
or do you know the difference?
I doubt it much--you make no sense.

Your words have rhythm and they rhyme,
but lack intelligent design
and I could dismiss all that
but you lack the creative tact

of even scores--Gematria.
Google that. I'll wait for ya.
Dismissals of what you do not know
will be the lessons of zero.

For words you cast aspersions on
were written long before the songs
your words allude to, like the gong
of taoist chant of runes you cast

in syllables, in beat of skin,
drumming psalms of sacred sin
without the breadth of difference
of understanding wisdom's bent

scales...you talk reptilain
as if a Babylonian,
conversing with the Persian wits
with Aramaic and Sanskrit

version of the truth be told
in the true Hebraic code:
don't dismiss what you don't know--
and beware of boas, those,

are seeded in Carduceus
with pagan roots pre-dated, thus--
a sign of healing, Mercury,
spat across the skies in seed

leaving herbs, and fruit that yield
the benefits of all that heal
left to women gathering
as men go off to war.

You're too smart for me.  I don't know what any of this means.  i'm going to find a dumber poet to be my new favorite.  It's hard to read a poem when you have to jump to dictionary.com after every stanza.

I feel vaguely offended by this poem.

He he you just need to get in there and stir the pot a little don't ya?

That's why I love ya, cause you just wouldn't be you otherwise.

I love this....ROFL!

"scales...you talk reptilain
as if a Babylonian,
conversing with the Persian wits
with Aramaic and Sanskrit"

You know how to open both doors with just the right amount of ambiguity don't ya?

Me got huge smile on face. Gonna kiss ya next time I see ya.

Take care Celeste.

*smile*

the sense of this left me with a smug smile..
the feel of it was gifted to me with a knowing nod...

Sometimes you feel words far more than interpret them..

I loved this..

and I love you

One of these days I'm going to sit at your feet,
just to listen to the sound of your beat.

Although poetic "jousting" has a long history, especially as intellectual fun in Royal "courts"--attack poetry is not allowed at Pip. I was just having a bit of fun, tao. If you feel that I was having too much fun at your expense, tao, feel free to ask a mod to delete this.

I don't mind, and I apologize if I hurt your feelings.

But yanno? Sometimes it's worth the extra effort to look stuff up.

I just thought you were playing with me by sneezing at my pink boa. (And it's completely understandable if you did--it's why I gave it away.)

Dear Celeste, I hate to say it but I'm

afraid most of it was over my head, but
thanks for sharing anyway.

I do have troll dolls! Actually, they are sculpted rubber thingies, from scandinavia.

I've got a lot of weird stuff. But I guess that's hardly surprising.

Anyhow, this ain't nuttin' to fuss over.

This is rather good yanno.

*Also, did you see your fame in Teen?

Your month's up, gal... c'mon out of hiding. *G* (and forgive the date fudging... I'm addicted to your magical pen *S*)

You make me want to ferret out your inspiration... but truth is... I don't have to know the backstory to appreciate what's on this page! *S*

you know, I put off reading this for several days because (from a cursory reading of the title) I just did not want to read a drinking song...should have known that you would never have been so obvious...this is magnificent writing...am always so impressed by your level of familiarity with such a variety of subjects and this one is chock full of those impressions...well, anyway, loved this best of all:

"in syllables, in beat of skin,
drumming psalms of sacred sin
without the breadth of difference
of understanding wisdom's bent"

...suppose it is because I found the phrase "psalms of sacred sin" fascinating...one request though...more, please...

but lack intelligent design"
