In shattered halls I saw empty peace be contrived Scant hours after I'd stood and watched them die, They justified sin with the sophistry of need And for their children planted hate's demon seed. The bloodied tombs of the brave whom they sacrificed For a liar's dream never realised, The ones who fell and bled their life's blood on the snow, How ill used they were they will never know Raphael reached out his hand but they turned away They said 'Now we kill, heal another day', Can my golden tears ever wash away their guilt? Is this how the tombs of nations are built? I would like to apologise for my long absence, I haven't been able to read and comment on other people's poems. My apologies especially go out to my friends Linda, Bill and Bobby. But I have been out of the country for a while dealing with family matters. Never sigh for a better world, it's already composed, played and told. |

Well welcome back, and that was quite a re-entry poem. |

Luke, you have been missed. I hope all went well on the family front. Archangels Michael and Raphael have played major roles in my life and I am adding this to my Library. Your poems ~ be they ones like this or your poems on love ~ are always passionate, rousing and powerfully written. God has sent his archangels Michael and Raphael to protect and heal mankind ~ if only Man would let them. Love, Peace, & Harmony, Linda |

I really liked the quasi-religious imagery and thought the meat of the poem was of high quality. I feel you could have kept it in the oven a little longer though. Some of the lines don't really keep the same beat as the others, which is sort of jarring. I will definitely watch for more of your work though. |
